This James Dyson National Award-winning design, called Pinsoft, is an injection cap that helps people suffering from a fear of needles, or trypanophobia. Pinsoft is placed around the injection and has many rounded teeth that confuse the skin as the needle penetrates it. It causes a gentle stimulation that distracts attention from the touch, making it impossible to distinguish between the touch of the teeth and the needle. This innovative design by Yu-Hsin Wu, called the Inflatable Stretcher, aims to be a novel and refreshing improvement on the typical stretcher. These improved stretchers allow patients to be moved from the scene of an accident to the hospital in a safe and secure manner. The stretcher protects and cushions the patient in the same way you might wrap something or someone in bubble wrap!

3. Medicine in jelly

This revolutionary gel medicine makes swallowing medications incredibly easy! It also touches on the issue of access to clean water, which is quite a recurring issue in poor countries. If water is contaminated, consuming medicines containing this water is harmful to humans. But this innovative drug design does not contain water! it is the size of a sip of water, so patients do not need to drink water while taking the medicine. “Poor hygiene and poor water quality cause many diseases, including cholera and typhoid fever. Taking the drug in such conditions carries the risk of developing additional disease if the drug is taken with unsanitary water. The jelly medicine eliminates this hygiene problem because it can be easily swallowed without water,” said the designer.

4. BeamO

At CES 2024, Withings introduced BeamO, an all-in-one health monitor for home use. It is a 4-in-1 USB-shaped multiscope that checks lung, heart and temperature parameters. This medical-grade tool was inspired by the popularity of the non-contact thermometer. BeamO streamlines the process of getting key nutrients from the comfort of your own home. The data will provide a complete overview of the patient’s overall health or alert you to any potential areas of concern.

5. Term of office

Say hello to Cadence, a concept design featuring a pharmacy-grade pill sorting plate that makes organizing pills a breeze. The innovative product sorts the pills for you and places them in the appropriate section. The specially designed tray has a slot for one day only, so you don’t lose pills or add them to compartments that are already full for that day. You can also place all the pills in the tray and then use the built-in spatula to slide the required pills into the opening.

6. Full metal jacket

Meet the Full Metal Jacket – an innovative jacket made of metallic fabric that repels germs. Designed by Vollebak, the Full Metal jacket is made of fabric with woven copper strands, making it quite breathable and flexible. The mantle contains almost 11 kilometers of copper, and the amount depends on the copper’s ability to kill any bacteria and viruses that may come into contact with it. It consists of three separate layers – one made of lacquered copper yarn, in a process that takes an entire week.

7. Intelligent prosthetic arm

Called a smart prosthetic arm, this wearable concept combines artificial intelligence and smart technology into a futuristic prosthetic. Prosthetic arms are often designed to resemble a real limb, often adapting to the user’s body and skin tone, but this arm has been designed to showcase its technical essence. Its aim is to normalize the use of prosthetic limbs in common spaces, building familiarity and easy acceptance. Designed in optical white and slate black, the digital interface is integrated around the prosthetic arm.

Heart medications are shaped like hearts, and toothache tablets look like teeth. The different pills have cute little shapes that help determine what medicine you’re taking and for what specific ailment. It adds a fun and whimsical element to your medication consumption, making you feel like you’re eating fun shaped candy instead of medicine!
