Congress centers encouraging mud-slinging agitation

The Maharashtra unit of the Congress on Friday called for a “mud-slinging” agitation across the state to condemn the state government’s policies harming farmers, workers, youth, women, backward classes and minorities.

The mud-slinging agitation included Congress MP Chandrakant Handore, former minister Naseem Khan, Suresh Shetty, former Mumbai Congress president Bhai Jagtap, Charanjit Sapra and state Congress treasurer Dr Amarjeetsingh Manhas.

The Congress also condemned inflation, unemployment, NEET fraud, black marketing of fertilizers and seeds, drug seizures and law and order. The agitation was also held in Nagpur where MLA Vikas Thackeray and spokesperson Atul Londhe were present.

Apart from Mumbai and Nagpur, agitations were held in Pune, Nanded, Nashik, Kolhapur, Gondia, Solapur, Chandrapur, Yavatmal, Dhule, Washim, Jalna, Amravati, Akola, Shrirampur and Buldhana districts, where all officials and employees participated and condemned the state government’s policies.

According to state president Nana Patole, there has been a call to throw mud at the agitation against the BJP-led Union and state governments that are neglecting people’s problems. Law and order is disturbed and people are struggling due to inflation and unemployment. Moreover, farmers are being robbed through black marketing of seeds and fertilizers, Patole alleged.

Patole added, “Corruption has increased in the state government. Under the DBT program, the government purchased pesticides, sprays and pumps at an inflated price. The government spent Rs 4,500 on the spray while the original price was Rs 2,700. As a rule, if we want to make any changes to the scheme, we need the consent of the cabinet. The Commissioner for Agriculture raised the issue with ministers, but the Commissioner was later transferred.

Patole claims that 11 million farmers could have benefited from this scheme, but the BJP-led government cheated them.
