Lakewood’s public swimming pool policy changes in summer 2024

LAKEWOOD, Ohio (WJW) – Crowds of people amid an extended heat wave have prompted the city of Lakewood to announce a new public swimming pool policy.

Effective Sunday, each non-resident must be accompanied by a Lakewood resident for individual interactions. Lakewood residents who wish to receive a day pass must provide proof of residency.

The Foster Pool reached capacity several times this week and the city had to turn away swimmers.

The city of Lakewood said on its Facebook page that it “considers the safety of pool users its highest priority and will continue to monitor the situation.”

Elsewhere, non-residents may enter the Parma Heights Pool by invitation only.

Non-resident day passes will be removed indefinitely. Residents escorting guests with their group will be required to be with them at all times.
