Dr. Yasmin Rashid from PTI writes another open letter from prison, criticizing the government’s policy

Dr. Yasmin Rashid, president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab, has released another open letter from prison, stressing the importance of peaceful protests as a cornerstone of democracy.

“The beauty of democracy is peaceful protest,” Dr. Rashid said, maintaining that this fundamental right is being suppressed by the current administration.

Dr. Rashid criticized the government’s imposition of Art. 144, which limits public gatherings until December 27.

“The government is so afraid of the people that Article 144 has been imposed. Can the love for Imran Khan be removed from the hearts of people with such restrictions?” – she asked.

She highlighted the virality of Imran Khan’s recent photo which received 5.5 million views in two hours, reflecting the public sentiment.

Dr Rashid also criticized the government’s economic policies, in particular the withdrawal of the Sahat Sahulat card, which previously allowed families to benefit from treatment worth up to one million rupees.

“Mr CM, if you find time in your 100 days of media presence, please check whether people are buying daily necessities at the prices announced by the government,” Dr Rashid urged.

She emphasized that as many as 40 percent people live below the poverty line, and the cost of living means that many people cannot afford even a single meal.

Dr Rashid also accused the government of engaging in political vendetta, mentioning the recent seven-day physical arrest of PTI members Alia Hamza and Sanam Javed. “Allah is the one who worships, and you have increased their honor. Remember that you will be responsible for all this cruelty,” she warned.
