WhatsApp will introduce an in-app dialer for direct calls

As per reports, WhatsApp is gearing up to introduce a new feature that will allow users to initiate calls directly from the app using dialable phone numbers.

This upcoming in-app dialer eliminates the need to add contacts to your address book in advance. According to WABetaInfo, users will be able to access this feature via a floating action button on the calls tab.

After entering a phone number, users will also have the option to save it as a new contact or add it to an existing contact card. Additionally, a message shortcut on the dialer screen allows users to quickly send a message to a phone number they initially intended to call but decided to send a message instead.

This feature is currently available to WhatsApp Android beta testers who have installed the latest updates from the Google Play Store. Wider availability is expected in the coming days.
