Thanjavur man falsely threatens Indigo Airlines on behalf of former neighbor; arrested

CHENNAI: The Cyber ​​Crime Branch of the city police last Tuesday arrested a 27-year-old man from Thiruvaiyaru in Thanjavur district for sending a fake bomb threat to a Chennai-Mumbai Indigo airlines flight.

Police said the accused sent threats through the customer service chat window on behalf of his former neighbor in Perambur to take revenge from him.

On Tuesday (June 18), around 8:45 a.m., the Indigo Airlines customer service center in Perumbakkam received information about a bomb planted on a Chennai-Mumbai flight.

When the threat was found to be a hoax, the airline lodged a complaint with the cyber crime police, who collected evidence and established that the message originated from Thanjavur district.

A police team led by Inspector R. Pushparaj found the accused, V. Prasanna (27), and arrested him.

The police seized his phone and other gadgets. Police said the accused is a B. Com graduate and unemployed.

“The accused made bomb threats to take revenge for his previous enmity against a neighboring family in Perambur, Chennai,” the official said.

He was brought before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
