Ibarapa APC praises Tinubu’s leadership and condemns marginalization

Participants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibarapa zone of Oyo State have expressed their appreciation for the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, calling for their inclusion in the government.

The group made the call in a communiqué issued after a stakeholders meeting held on June 18 and made available to journalists on Sunday in Ibadan.

The communiqué was signed by former Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Wale Adeoye; APC chieftain, Hon. Samuel Oketoobo; former Chairman of Ibarapa East Local Government, Hon. Bimbo Adepoju; and a host of other interested parties.

Ibarapa Zone of Oyo State comprises three local government areas, namely, Ibarapa East, Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North.

The group commended the president for heeding the concerns of APC leaders in Oyo State by including more citizens of the state in the boards and management of tertiary education institutions.

The group, however, criticized the latest list of nominations, noting the complete absence of representatives from the Ibarapa zone despite the large number of qualified candidates from the area.

It was found that the 24-person list sent to Abuja for these appointments did not include any representative of Ibarapa zone despite the fact that there are many qualified persons in the area.

Stakeholders considered this exclusion a deliberate omission, arguing that it was contrary to the party’s principles of participatory democracy, justice and equality.

They called on President Tinubu and national party leaders to review the list to include Ibarapa indigenes and ensure that the zone is included in future federal appointments.

Additionally, the group called for a more inclusive decision-making process within the party to ensure adequate representation of all geopolitical zones in the country.

She reaffirmed the loyalty and commitment of the Ibarapa Zone to the APC, stressing its role as a united progressive force in Oyo State as well as Nigeria.

They called for equal treatment in both nominating and elected positions.
