Gauteng Premier Lesufi explains why the board’s announcement has been postponed

JOHANNESBURG – While the country continues to await the announcement of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s cabinet, a similar waiting game is being played in Gauteng.

Prime Minister Panyaza Lesufi has postponed the announcement of his executive position, which was scheduled for Sunday.

Lesufi spent Sunday putting out fires on the X platform on social media, where there has been much speculation about the delay in the appointment of his director.

He disputed reports that Ramaphosa had instructed him to include members of the Democratic Alliance (DA) in his cabinet.

Lesufi said the hold-up was due to negotiators asking for more time, adding that these were not ordinary negotiations but were extremely complex and difficult.

In the last general election, the African National Congress (ANC) failed to secure a clear majority in Gauteng, requiring the support of other parties to form a government.

As with the president’s cabinet announcements, it is still unclear when Lesufi will make nominations for leadership positions.
