Shipments of wearable devices in China increased significantly in the first quarter

BEIJING – Shipments of wearable devices in China increased by 36.2 percent year-on-year to reach 33.67 million units in the first quarter of this year, according to the latest industry report released by global market research firm International Data Corporation (IDC). .

During the period, smartwatch shipments increased 54.1 percent year-on-year to 9.1 million units. According to the report, shipments of adult smartwatches increased by 62.8 percent year-on-year to 5.05 million units, while shipments of children’s smartwatches increased by 44.4 percent to 4.04 million units.

The report showed that 3.7 million pieces of wearable bracelets were shipped to the country in the first quarter, an increase of 29.6 percent from the previous year.

According to IDC, shipments of in-ear devices increased 30.6 percent year over year to 20.75 million units.
