In the first cabinet meeting of the NDA government led by N. Chandrababu Naidu in Andhra Pradesh on Monday, it was decided to publish seven white papers on key issues, including the Polavaram project and the Amaravati capital, in a bid to expose the previous YSRCP regime.

The cabinet meeting abolished the controversial land titling law and increased social pensions to PLN 4,000, as promised by Naidu during his election campaign, and approved recruitment for 16,347 teaching posts.

The cabinet also approved a skills inventory that treats each family as a unit to be assessed to impart industry-relevant skills and increase employment opportunities.

During the meeting, which lasted approximately three and a half hours, several issues were discussed, including seven white papers. It has decided to publish white papers on Polvarama, Amaravati, power, environment, alcohol, economic issues and law and order to make people aware of the policies adopted by the previous government. They will be published by the new government between June 28 and July 18. A ministerial committee was also formed with the interior minister to deal with Ganja.

The cabinet also approved five documents signed by the Prime Minister after taking up his duties. These include a mega recruitment drive for teachers, increase in social pensions, abolition of the land titling act, reopening of Anna canteens offering cheap meals to the poor and conducting a Skills Census within 3-4 months.

Information and Public Relations Minister K Parthasarthy said pensions would be paid to citizens as before, but by Secretariat staff and not volunteers as was the practice during the previous YSRCP government.

On July 1, beneficiaries will receive Rs 7,000, including Rs 4,000 for this particular month and Rs 1,000 each for April, May and June. The expenditure will increase from Rs 23,272 crore spent under the previous regime to Rs 33,100 crore.

The state cabinet renamed Dr YSR University of Health Sciences as NTR University of Health Sciences, as per the original name. The new government also reappointed Dammalapati Srinivas as the new Advocate General after the resignation of the incumbent president following the change of government.
