Obituary: Jørgen Rostrup | Media capacity

Rostrup unfortunately died after a sudden and unexpected illness on Saturday afternoon.

“Jørgen has been an essential member of our leadership team at Telenor for many years, a good colleague and a dear friend to me personally. It’s hard for me to understand that he’s already dead. Today my heart goes out to my family and friends. I share their sadness,” said Sigve Brekke, president and CEO of the Telenor group.

In a LinkedIn post, Telenor Asia said the group has lost a valued leader, good colleague and dear friend.

In the post, he quotes Rostrup’s favorite phrase: “Stay safe, stay energized!” and states that his passion and focus on people’s well-being and safety is one of the many things that will remember him fondly.

Rostrup has had a profound impact not only on his colleagues at Telenor Asia, who say they will cherish their memories of him and their time together in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore, but also on the operations of the Telenor group.

His vision and energy were instrumental in transforming Telenor in Asia, navigating the complex crisis in Myanmar and completing the Telenor merger in Malaysia and Thailand.

Last October, Rostrup moved from head of Telenor Asia to director of Telenor Nordics.

As of today, Jon Omund Revhaug has been appointed acting vice president and head of Telenor Nordics.

Revhaug is currently the Chief Operating Officer of Telenor Nordics, responsible for technology, IT and shared services in the Nordic region.

He has extensive experience in several areas of Telenor since 2000, including serving as CEO of Telenor Myanmar, serving 23 million customers, and CEO of Telenor Procurement Company (TPC).
