The Galaxy Watch 6 trade-in value is currently capped at $100

Trade-ins are one of the best ways to save on a new Samsung device, but if you want to upgrade to the Galaxy Watch 6, some of the best deals suddenly become unavailable.

You can often find good trade-in deals for a new Samsung device on Samsung.com. For example, Samsung has been offering the Galaxy Watch 6 “Any Smartwatch, Any Condition” trade-in deal for several weeks now, which allows users to trade in a damaged smartwatch or just a watch from a random brand for a minimum of $100. This offer is still available as of June 24.

But suddenly that’s the most you can get out of any smartwatch.

If you’re purchasing a Galaxy Watch 6, the trade-in value is currently capped at $100 on Samsung.com. No matter what you trade, this is the absolute most value you can get right now. If the device is worth more than $100, such as the latest Galaxy Watch or Apple Watch, Samsung simply doesn’t offer a trade-in option.

This seems to only affect the Galaxy Watch 6, specifically its 40mm variant. Trading towards the 44mm size increases the trade limit to $150 when trading a Galaxy Watch 4 or Apple Watch Series 6. If you trade towards the Watch 6 Classic, the values behave as normal, reaching a maximum limit of $250 for the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro or Apple Watch Series 8.

This is most likely a completely temporary restriction or bug, but it’s certainly unfortunate for anyone looking to take advantage of the current discounts.

Meanwhile, Samsung is preparing to launch the Galaxy Watch 7 and Ultra in a few weeks.
