Senator Blumenthal is calling for hot car regulations on newer vehicles

EAST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and Riggs, a dog rescued from a hot car last year, met with the city’s mayor and first responders on Monday to push for life-saving innovations in the car.

Blumenthal urges all new vehicles to be equipped with a rear-seat censor that warns all drivers if they have left a child behind.

“I am asking the Department of Transportation to issue a regulation requiring all cars to be equipped with these systems so that parents do not leave their children in the car.”

Even on a mild day, the temperature in the closed car camp increases by 40 degrees in an hour.
