It’s not just a nice design: the UGREEN robotic charger powers your phone

Charger technologies are constantly being improved. Charging speeds are getting faster, the number of connections and charging power are increasing, but the designs remain relatively mundane. The Nexode charger from UGREEN deviates from the standards with its unique design. Nexode is shaped like a cute robot and comes with a screen that displays facial expressions to indicate its status: ready, fast charging, or fully charged. Additionally, UGREEN has equipped the robot with legs-like stands, so it can stand on a desk when not in use.

UGREEN uses GaN (gallium nitride) technology in Nexode, which makes it extremely compact. GaN technology enables the development of smaller chargers that generate less heat and offer faster charging. Nexode provides 65 watts of power, so you can easily charge not only smartphones but also laptops.

UGREEN Nexode – Dynamic triple connections

Nexode has three ports: two USB-C ports and one USB-A port. The first USB-C port supports 65 watts, the second port supports 30 watts, and the USB-A port supports 22.5 watts. These are dynamic ports that adjust their output power depending on the number of connected devices. For example, when two devices are connected, the first USB-C port provides 45 watts and the second provides 20 watts. When you connect three devices, you’ll get 45W from the first USB-C port and 7.5W from each of the other two ports.

UGREEN claims that the charger can detect and provide fast charging for iPhones, Samsung Galaxy devices and MacBooks, ensuring maximum charging efficiency. Supports PD3.0 and QC 3.0 standards for compatible devices. I tested the charger with the Galaxy S24 Ultra and it actually provided fast charging for the Samsung.

A notable feature of the Nexode is its trickle charge mode, which maintains a full charge by supplying a small, constant current to the battery, preventing overcharging and potentially extending battery life.

To summarize, the Nexode is a 65-watt charger capable of charging three different devices simultaneously, suitable for both smartphones and laptops. It supports fast charging standards, which allows devices like Samsung smartphones to reach maximum charging speeds (which is 45 watts, which is not very high). Moreover, it is compact and has a robot design with a display.
