Apple today made the second beta of the upcoming macOS 15 Sequoia update available to developers for testing purposes, and the software will arrive two weeks after the first beta is released following the WWDC 2024 main event.

Registered developers can sign up for the beta in the Software Update section of the System Settings app. Please note that an Apple ID associated with your Apple developer account is required to obtain the beta.

macOS Sequoia introduces iPhone Mirroring, which allows you to control your locked iPhone from your Mac. You can open and use iPhone apps, use notifications, and drag and drop files between iPhone and Mac and vice versa.

New window stacking options have been added, and dragging a window to the edge of the screen will suggest a neighboring position, making it easier to use multiple applications at the same time. Apple is adding a Passwords app for password management, Safari can summarize web pages and display key information, and Notes supports live audio transcription and math equations.

All of the Apple Intelligence features coming to iOS 18 will also be available on “macOS Sequoia,” but Apple doesn’t plan to add them until a later stage of beta testing. Apple Intelligence includes writing tools for editing, proofreading, and summarizing text in apps, and Image Playground lets you create AI images based on suggestions.

Custom emojis or “Genmojis” can be created for any situation and used just like emojis, and Siri is getting smarter. “Siri” will be able to do more in applications and better understand requests, especially those related to content displayed on the screen.

“macOS Sequoia” is available to developers now, but Apple will release a public beta in July.
