iOS 18 beta 2: Here’s everything that’s new

iOS 18 beta 2 has been officially released to developers. The update, which arrives two weeks after the initial beta, includes some big new features. Head below for a round-up of what’s new in iOS 18 beta 2.

iOS 18 is currently available to developer beta testers, with a public beta expected in July and a general release planned for September. Please note that during the early beta phases, changes and improvements may be unpredictable. This means that something that works in iOS 18 beta 1 may not work properly in iOS 18 beta 2. As always, be careful.

Additionally, the second beta of a major iOS update is usually the least exciting because Apple hasn’t had much time to address major concerns and feedback yet. In fact, iOS 18 beta 2 was probably compiled less than a week after WWDC. iOS 18 beta 3 is likely to be a more interesting update with significant changes and features.

iOS beta 2: New features and changes

  • The big change in iOS 18 beta 2 is the iPhone Mirroring feature is now available. You’ll need a Mac running macOS Sequoia beta 2, and then you’ll be able to mirror your iPhone’s screen directly to your Mac. This includes notifications, gestures for navigation and more.
  • iOS 18 beta 2 also adds support for new SharePlay screen sharing features, including the ability to take over and control another person’s screen.
  • In iPad 18 beta 2, Apple extended the changes made in the European Union in response to DMA to iPad. These include support for alternative browser engines, app markets, and more.
  • A new version of the App Store icon in dark mode is available:
  • In the Settings app, in the “Messages” section, there is a new toggle for “RCS Messages”. This seems to be enabled by default, but RCS doesn’t seem to be working yet.
  • In the Passwords app, there is a new “+” icon in the lower right corner that allows you to easily add new logins to the app. Previously, this button was only found in the “All” menu of the application.
