The Department of Tourism Regulations is finalizing meetings with TCI taxi operators

As part of the Department of Tourism Regulation’s (DTR) latest ‘Rate Your Ride’ project, which aims to ensure high-quality taxi services across the region, DTR Director Avi Adams made a special appearance at the bustling taxi rank of the newly renamed Howard Hamilton International Airport, Friday, June 7, 2024

During an engaging discussion with the taxi association, Adams revealed exciting changes coming with the arrival of the ‘Rate Your Ride’ initiative.

The session was attended by Nikeva Ariza, Corporate Affairs and Communications Manager at TCI Airports Authority (TCIAA). To further ensure the highest level of service, the department also convened an exclusive meeting with VIP taxi drivers at the Department of Environmental and Coastal Resources building in The Bight on June 18, where insights and guidance on the future of service standards were shared.

During his visit, Director Adams emphasized the importance of collaboration and open communication with all stakeholders involved in the initiative.

“Our goal for Rate Your Ride is to improve the overall experience for travelers while ensuring that taxi drivers, who are key partners in this endeavor, are fully informed and have their voices heard,” Adams said. “We believe that by working together we can create a service that not only meets but exceeds the expectations of our guests.”

DTR has made it a priority to work directly with taxi drivers and other transport partners at all stages of planning and implementing the initiative. This approach aims to foster a sense of inclusion and collaboration, ensuring that all perspectives are considered and included.

“It is essential that we listen to the views of those on the front lines,” Adams continued. “Our drivers have direct insight into and engage with our guests. By understanding their perspective and incorporating their insights, we can adapt the Rate Your Ride initiative to better serve both our guests and our carriers.”

These meetings represented a significant step towards more connected and responsive transportation services, reinforcing DTR’s commitment to quality and partnership.
