Improvements to tracking my device in Google Find My are on the way: what to expect : Tech : Tech Times

The Find My Device network is still in its early stages of development, but Google says major improvements are expected.

While it is obvious that the tracking app has an attractive interface for users, the combined functionality of the app and trackers leaves much to be desired.

Google is expected to roll out more improvements to its Find My Device network soon to provide a better user experience.

As reported by 9to5Mac, a Google spokesperson confirmed that improvements are actively being worked on. These improvements are intended to increase the speed and accuracy of the crowdsourced tracking system, solving one of the most frustrating aspects of using primarily Bluetooth-based tracking devices.

“We are actively working to make improvements to the Find My Device network that will improve the speed and ability to locate lost items in the coming weeks. Devices continue to join the new Find My Device network and we expect the network to continue to grow, which will also help improve the ability to find a lost device,” a company spokesperson says.

Optimize Bluetooth settings

Additionally, Google recommends that users with Bluetooth tags adjust their Find My Device settings to be “connected in all areas.” This adjustment is said to improve the network’s ability to locate lost items in less trafficked areas, which is a serious problem given the current limitations of available trackers.

Augmented reality and UWB support

Future improvements may include support for locating trackers using augmented reality (AR) on devices with ultra-wideband (UWB) capabilities. While Google hasn’t explicitly tied these AR improvements to its promised improvements, Motorola’s announcement of the first UWB-compatible tracker for the Find My Device network is promising.

UWB technology, supported by devices such as Pixel 6 Pro, 7 Pro, 8 Pro, Fold and Pixel Tablet, perfectly pinpoints the location of UWB-compatible devices.

When will these improvements be implemented?

Unfortunately, Google did not provide a specific timeline for implementing these improvements. It only signaled that they would appear in the coming weeks.

On Snapchat, young users can now receive alerts if they receive a message from someone who has been reported by others. The same applies to people who seem unknown or outside the teenager’s circle.
