We are recruiting: Senior Policy Advisor (Transport)

Are you passionate about improving the UK’s transport systems? Do you have a good mix of experience, skills and knowledge of how effective transport infrastructure can help boost regional economies, support economic decarbonisation, remain resilient to the impacts of climate change or make the most of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence? If so, a new position on the Commission may be for you.

Applications are open to transport and policy professionals interested in joining our policy team and leading our work on projects arising from the recommendations of our second National Infrastructure Assessment, as well as helping the Commission respond to any changing priorities following the general election.

Role – based on our Leeds office – will suit a candidate with the skills and knowledge necessary to coordinate our evidence-based policymaking on transport and related cross-cutting issues. Transport education and experience, together with research and policy development skills, will be helpful in assessing and tracking government and industry progress in implementing existing Commission recommendations, including on transport financing, modal shift, road and rail resilience, and devolved powers and transport financing to local authorities. If this is you, we would like to hear more about your experience in developing strategic policy agendas and analyzing data from various sources for policy development, as well as evidence of how you have achieved positive policy outcomes by using appropriate project management techniques .

As a Senior Policy Advisor, you will need to develop effective relationships across government, industry and academia to support the development of our policy, and be able to communicate our findings at senior levels to help build consensus around the Commission’s transport recommendations. You will have the opportunity to work closely with our Commissioners, other policy colleagues and members of our analysis and modelling team to address the demanding and cutting-edge transport infrastructure challenges that will shape the country’s long-term economic future.

The deadline for submitting applications is expired Sunday July 14, 2024. More information about the position and the application process can be found in the Civil Service Jobs section and in this candidate job pack.
