Economy Minister Conor Murphy has launched action plans to boost growth in seven of the northern economy’s most innovative, productive and export-led sectors. Action plans set out a plan of action to implement the Minister’s economic vision.

The sectors are:

  • Agricultural technology;
  • Life and health sciences;
  • Advanced manufacturing, materials and engineering;
  • Fintech/Financial services;
  • Software (including Cyber);
  • Screen industry; AND
  • Low-emission (including ecological hydrogen).

Speaking at the Digital DNA conference, the minister said: When we have sectors with this potential, it is important that the government supports this development in a strategic and tailored way.

“That’s why my officials, in partnership with industry, have developed action plans to harness the potential of our most innovative, productive and internationally focused sectors.

“With the right support, all seven of our high-potential sectors can continue to thrive. In this way, they will create good jobs requiring high qualifications. They will increase our productivity through international exports. And they will ensure that the benefits of economic growth are felt throughout the region. These plans have been developed together with industry and this cooperation should be continued

The action plans aim to drive growth by improving collaboration and clustering, responding to industry skills requirements, supporting innovation and better coordinating trade and targeted investment.
