JOHOR BAHRU, June 26 (Bernama) — The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) has allocated RM70.12 million this year to support the agriculture and agri-food sector in Johor.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup said the funds were earmarked for development projects covering the animal husbandry, crops and aquaculture sectors, as well as strengthening the pineapple industry, marketing and export of agricultural products, and the development of agricultural enterprises.

He said that of this amount, RM19.2 million was allocated under the KPKM’s cooperation program with the state government to optimize land use for the country’s food security.

“Generally, this type of cooperation program is the KPKM “Quick Win” initiative implemented under the 2024 budget, aimed at optimizing land for agriculture, agri-food and agri-tourism activities across the country, with an allocation of RM150 million,” he stated in statement.

Earlier today, Arthur made a courtesy call to Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi and presented a sample check of RM19.2 million under the cooperation program.
