A former Shopify executive is joining an e-commerce software development company in Houston

Houston-based e-commerce software and services company Cart.com has hired a former Shopify executive as its chief human resources officer.

Before joining Cart.com, Lani Doyle he was HR director at Strategic Solutions Group, a healthcare software provider. Previously, she was vice president of HR and people operations at 6 River Systems, a supplier of software and robotics for warehouses. Previously, Doyle was director of talent development and operations at Shopify, an e-commerce platform for businesses that reported 2023 revenue of $7.1 billion.

Cart.com is one of the fastest-growing companies in commerce today, and I’m excited to work with our teams to help drive growth and scale,” Doyle said in a press release. “I’m excited to help shape our culture and develop programs that support and elevate high-performing teams to ensure we achieve our ambitious goals.”

Omair Tarik, founder and CEO of Cart.com, describes Doyle as a “strategic leader” who will help develop the startup’s ever-growing team. Founded in 2020 in Houston, the company employs over 1,600 people.

“Her deep expertise in HR strategy and talent development will be critical to accelerating our growth trajectory and supporting a dynamic workplace culture,” says Frank Parker, chief operating officer of Cart.com.

In February, Cart.com made another senior management move promoting Joe Barth from senior vice president of implementation to director of logistics.

Cart.com has over 6,000 customers. The company handles over 75 million orders annually from 14 fulfillment centers in the US

Earlier this year, Tariq joined the Houston Innovators Podcast to share about the growth of his company and its move from Austin back to Houston.

“I think Austin did its job. It has definitely allowed us to be in the spotlight in all the right ways and I am grateful for that,” Tariq says on the show. “But as we get to the point where we’ve closed a Series C round and become a unicorn… I think we’re at the scale now that the infrastructure that Houston provides is probably something that will be more attractive and useful to us in the long run “.
