Select Bluesound devices now have Dirac Live Room Correction pre-installed

Dirac and Bluesound have announced that the pair will enter into a unique partnership to add Dirac’s award-winning room correction software to select Bluesound devices.

According to Fredric Tapper, vice president of home and professional audio at Dirac, this first collaboration with Bluesound marks an important milestone for the company as it continues to expand industry access to its digital room correction technologies for multi-room audio installations.

“The way consumers listen to music at home is changing; While dedicated listening rooms were once the norm, today the entire home is the listening space – the living room, kitchen, bedrooms, basements and beyond,” Tapper said.

“However, this expanded definition of the listening space has created new challenges for high-fidelity sound reproduction, as dynamic outdoor spaces and room dimensions can significantly impact sound quality. This industry-first collaboration with Bluesound addresses these challenges by delivering high-fidelity sound in any room or listening space, no matter how complex.

Since its debut, Dirac Live has quickly become one of the leading room correction solutions. With the ability to automatically address common acoustic challenges, the software has greatly expanded the types of spaces in which integrators can install audio and home theater systems.

According to both companies, future Bluesound devices will be ready to support Dirac Live after purchasing a license for Dirac Live through the Dirac website. The calibration kit will be available for sale on Bluesound.com when the first supporting Bluesound player is available.

Backward compatibility with existing Bluesound devices is also being explored, and rollout plans for eligible models will be made available later, look out for a pair.

“At Bluesound, we fundamentally believe that consumers shouldn’t have to sacrifice audio quality for the convenience of streaming, and that multi-room audio streaming doesn’t have to come at the expense of high-quality audio reproduction,” said Matt Simmonds, product manager, Bluesound.

“HiFi is deeply rooted in our DNA and that’s why we’re so excited to partner with Dirac – a company that shares our commitment to audio innovation and the pursuit of great sound. These Dirac Ready Bluesound devices will set new performance standards in the Wi-Fi-based multi-room audio streaming market.

Before the first version was released, Dirac created a special page where users can register to receive notifications about which Bluesound devices have been enabled as soon as they become available.
