Frore introduces the waterproof AirJet Mini Sport for smartphones

Over the past few years, Frore Systems has demonstrated several ways to use AirJet active solid-state cooling systems to improve cooling in fanless devices such as laptops, tablets, SSDs and edge devices. However, there is a subset of applications that require cooling options to also be waterproof, and Frore is also looking to solve this problem. This week, Frore launched the AirJet Mini Sport, an IP68-rated waterproof solid-state cooling device for use in smartphones and action cameras.

Unveiled at MWC Shanghai to attract the attention of Chinese suppliers of mobile phones, edge and industrial devices and action cameras, the AirJet Mini Sport is an improved version of Frore’s AirJet Mini Slim. This version is fully waterproof and offers an IP68 protection rating, which allows you to work underwater to a depth of over 1.5 meters for a maximum of 30 minutes. Internally, the AirJet Mini Sport can effectively dissipate 5.25 W of heat, generating 1,750 pascals of back pressure while consuming 1 W of energy.

Elsewhere, Frore claims that the AirJet Mini Sport can provide smartphones with 2.5W of cooling power. Which, while not enough to cover the total power consumption/heat dissipation of a high-end SoC, would have a significant impact on both burst performance. as well as in a stable state, enabling these chips to operate at maximum clocks and power for longer periods of time.

To ensure consistent performance of the Frore AirJet Mini Sport in a variety of environments, the cooling unit includes features such as dust resistance and self-cleaning. In addition, like the AirJet Mini Slim, the Sport badged version has its own thermal sensor that controls its own operation and maintains optimal performance. As a result, Frore claims that smartphones and action cameras equipped with AirJet Mini Sport can achieve up to 80% better performance.

“We are excited to announce the waterproof AirJet Mini Sport,” said Dr. Seshu Madhavapeddy, Founder and CEO of Frore Systems. “Consumers demand more performance from compact devices that can be used anywhere, on land or in water. AirJet unlocks device performance, now allowing users to do more with their IP68 dust-proof and waterproof devices.”
