‘Speaking Practice’ provides an immersive experience of the sounds, accents and lip movements of a language through videos of native speakers. It offers AI-powered personalized feedback, giving students immediate, actionable information on how to improve their speaking skills. Using an AI speech recognition tool, “speaking practice” processes students’ speech and then evaluates their sentences. It then highlights words that need correction and provides personalized feedback based on which words were wrong. Students can practice speaking another language on their own time, in a safe, judgment-free space that helps alleviate anxiety throughout language learning.

“Speaking exercises are a great step to help language learners gain confidence in using another language in real life,” said Gino Micacchi, VP of Product at Busuu. “The combination of immersive videos featuring native speakers with real-time personalized AI-powered feedback provides students with a life-like language learning experience.”

“Speaking Practice” is available to anyone learning English, Spanish, French and German in all 16 languages of the Busuu interface.2 English and Spanish learners can benefit from full AI-powered personalized feedback that includes practical tips for improving their speaking skills. Each student can try two speaking lessons for free, and Premium subscribers will have unlimited access to this feature.

Busuu courses are designed by experts and cover the four key areas needed to learn a language – listening, reading, writing and speaking. What’s more, Busuu courses have “speaking practice” built into them, meaning users can gain learning experience by learning grammar, words and phrases before moving on to speaking exercises.

Language learners can now try out “speaking exercises” by downloading Busuu from the Apple App Store. “Speaking Practice” will be available on Android later this year. A web version is expected to be available in the future.

English version instructional video on speaking exercises is available online. More information about Busuu’s latest developments can be found on the website www.busuu.com.
