Will Biden reject Trump’s clean energy claims in the presidential debate?

Former US President Donald Trump said that US policy of developing renewable energy could help China become richer.

The Asian giant already has key green technologies and produces key parts for solar panels and electric vehicles.

The upcoming presidential debate will give Joe Biden a chance to directly oppose Trump’s energy policies, which are believed to be slowing the United States’ transition to green energy.

Analysts predict that pausing the Biden administration’s renewable energy policies could benefit Beijing because any such move would threaten hundreds of billions of dollars already invested in the sector.

Any effort to roll back the green transition could leave the United States behind rivals as experts say a global transition to adaptive green energy is already underway. It will also help China expand access to green technologies.

Reversing the green transition could help China

“If America decides to withdraw from the green transition as a political decision, it will not stop the global process because it is already underway,” said Prime Minister Stuart Mackintosh, economist and author of “The Economics of the Climate Crisis.” NYT.

“From a manufacturing standpoint, you’re just ensuring that China’s lead in these technologies continues to expand.”

If Trump comes to power, he could repeal Biden’s landmark climate law, which could threaten $488 billion in U.S. investments.

During a meeting last month, Trump reportedly told oil executives to donate $1 billion to his presidential campaign. He argued that Biden’s environmental policies are hurting the oil industry and that if elected, he would repeal climate regulations.

Drill, baby, drill

Biden says Trump has weakened dozens of climate and environmental regulations during his presidential term.

Trump now says he would remove new climate regulations that accelerate the country’s transition to electric vehicles. He also promotes the “drill, baby, drill” program, which aims to open up more public lands for oil and gas exploration.

Project 2025

Meanwhile, conservative activists, including former Trump administration officials, have formed an ambitious presidential transition effort called Project 2025.

Calls for the repeal of federal climate change programs and the repeal of Biden administration-backed laws that provide billions in funding and tax incentives for corporations and communities to use renewable energy, as reported NPR.

The program managing Project 25 argues that the Biden administration’s ideological policies are funneling vast amounts of money to favored interests and making America dependent on adversaries like China for energy.

According to the program managing Project 25, in the name of combating climate change, policies have been used to create an artificial energy shortage that will require trillions of dollars in new investments, supported by taxpayer subsidies, to solve the “problem” that government and special interests they created themselves.

The Trump side believes this has resulted in rising energy costs that are harming individuals and families, especially low-income Americans and seniors on fixed incomes. It has also made companies that create jobs that drive the economy and quality of life less competitive; and made America “less energy secure.”

Some NYT The article also states that Trump believes that “clean energy is a fraud.”

Presidential debate

On Thursday, Trump and Biden will take part in the presidential debate, including: CNN-an event organized by the government administration. The debate, which will last 90 minutes, would give political foes a chance to make their case for a second term.

The debate is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. EST from the CNN studios in Atlanta and is expected to draw the largest audience of the entire election cycle.

Leaders are expected to expose the weaknesses of their rivals. The 78-year-old former US president will have the opportunity to substantiate his numerous claims, including that the clean energy transition is a fraud, and the 81-year-old incumbent president will have the chance to refute the Republican leader’s claims.
