A major renovation of Long Island’s premier live music venue is well underway, and the state just released some photos to prove it.

Pictured is the brand new art deco marquee at the Jones Beach Theatre.

But there is more work on the way, including upgrades to the boardwalks, restrooms and hospitality areas, with new plazas adding more food and drink areas. One of the plazas will be dedicated to local food and drink options.

“New Yorkers have been visiting the historic Northwell Health at the Jones Beach Theater for years to see performances by their favorite artists, and this investment will fund key improvements to this iconic venue,” said Governor Kathy Hochul when the project was announced in October 2022.

“Through New York State’s partnership with Live Nation Entertainment, we will provide an even better audience experience and ensure this theater remains a premier performing arts venue for many years to come.”

Over time, several thousand seats on the upper level of the 14,500-seat amphitheater will also be replaced. The entire project, a joint effort between the state and Live Nation, is expected to take about five years. According to Greater Long Island, Live Nation previously renovated the facility, installing 5-foot-tall digital signs, adding Taste NY food and beverage options and increasing the number of concessions.

The quintessential summer venue opened 70 years ago as the Jones Beach Marine Theater with approximately 8,200 seats. In addition to music, the theater was once a major venue for Broadway-style performances.

This year’s lineup includes Maroon 5, Post Malone, Pitbull and T-Pain, Jason Aldean, Chicago and Earth, Wind and Fire.
