This The Bayelsa State Government conducted a one-day training and orientation exercise for its New Media Advisors.

The training on “Implementing New Media Resources for Good Governance and Prosperity” was held at the Harold Dappa Biriye Conference Room, Golden Tulip, Yenagoa.

In his welcome address, the Director General of New Media to the Governor, Dr. Samuel Kolawole Oredipe, reiterated the importance of training to enhance the effectiveness of media advisors in promoting government policies and programs.

Dr. Oredipe thanked Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State, for deeming Bayelsa youths worthy of being drafted into his media team, while congratulating media workers for the opportunity to serve the state.

“I would like to congratulate all of you on your appointments, as well as those of us who have been reappointed. We have been in office for almost two months and it is important that we establish a plan of action before we begin work,” said Dr. Oredipe.

In his speech on the theme: “Understanding Journalistic Ethics and Standards as a Social Media User”, former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Guidance and Strategy, Mr. Freston Akpor, appealed to media professionals to promote government policies and programmes honestly and engage with the public.

In his speech, Mr. Asieri Odusi, Business Director of Bayelsa Tech Hub, said that as media advisors, they represent the interests of the welfare government, stating that they should be transparent in engaging citizens online.

In her speech, the new Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Mrs. Ebiuwou Koku Obiyai, encouraged media workers to be patriotic and put Bayelsa first in their activities, stating that she is willing to work with all media entities to promote government policies and programs .

New Media Auxiliaries have signed a new code of operations and guidelines to ensure smooth and decent engagement across media platforms.
