Tinubu is asking the Senate to confirm the nominations of Tunji Bello and others

President Bola Tinubu has asked the Senate to approve the appointment of several people to important positions.

In a letter read during yesterday’s plenary session, Tinubu urged the Senate to consider and confirm the nomination of Dr. Olatunji Bello as Director-General/Executive Vice-Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).

Tinubu also presented the names of three candidates for consideration and confirmation for the positions of chairman, secretary and member of the Police Service Commission (PSC), respectively.

The nominees are retired Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Hashim Argungu (Chairman), Chief Onyema Uche (Secretary) and retired DIG Taiwo Lakanu (Member) PSC.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio read out the letters placed on the floor during the plenary session.

After reading, the nomination of Olatunja Bello was referred to the Senate Committee on Trade and Investment, while the nominations of Argungu, Uche and Lakanu were referred to the Senate Committee on Police for further legislative work.

The committees had one week to report to the Senate on these nominations.
