Infinity Power, which currently uses 1.3 GW of renewable energy and aims to reach 10 GW by 2030, will develop the Cameroon projects in phases. These projects aim to provide clean, renewable energy for home use, meeting Cameroon’s critical energy needs amid a 27% increase in per capita electricity consumption over the past two decades.

Mohamed Ismail Mansour, CEO of Infinity Power, expressed enthusiasm for the new project, emphasizing the company’s goal to operate in every African country. Nayer Fouad, CEO of Infinity Power, highlighted the transformative potential of the facility for Cameroon’s energy supply and economy.

Ahmed Mulla noted the importance of partnerships in meeting Cameroon’s energy needs through sustainable solutions, and Doctor Jules Hilaire Focka Focka stressed the strategic importance of energy production for regional development. The Western Region Strategic Development Plan, which includes a drained port and railway system, will benefit from increased energy capacity.

Dr. Vincent Kitio He pointed to the renewable energy potential of the Western Region of over 6 GW, compared to the current 100 MW obtained from the national grid for 2 million inhabitants. He emphasized the transformative impact of the project on socio-economic development and the fight against poverty.

The MoU is in line with Infinity Power’s mission to advance renewable energy in Africa and supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The announcement follows Infinity Power’s recent agreement with the Government of Egypt for a 10 GW onshore wind project, which is expected to be one of the world’s largest renewable energy projects.
