Tinubu praises renewable energy expert Abdul Razaq for receiving Global Sustainability Award

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated renewable energy expert, Mr. Ridwan AbdulRazaq, for winning the Prince’s Trust Global Sustainability Award 2024.

Abdulrazaq won the Prince’s Trust Award and the TK Maxx and Homesense Awards at London’s Theater Royal Drury Lane, sponsored by Octopus Energy.

The president’s heartfelt message was contained in a statement issued on Friday by his special adviser on media and publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.

He described Abdulrazaq as “a Nigerian leader in green solutions,” adding that his achievements reinforce a long-standing belief that Nigeria’s climate goals and his administration’s green industry vision “are achievable with the active participation of the country’s highly talented youth.”

Tinubu further stated that “Nigeria can lead Africa and even the rest of the world in science, technology, cutting-edge manufacturing and other spheres of human interest thanks to the complex ingenuity of the youth.”

He urged Nigerians not to give up on putting their talents into any field and said his administration remains committed to providing support and realizing their dreams.

AbdulRazaq, an energy auditor at Starsight Energy, was recognized for his achievements in promoting the design and implementation of solar energy systems in Nigeria, particularly in off-grid rural communities.

Prince’s Trust International CEO Will Straw said: “Through its groundbreaking work in designing and delivering solar energy systems, particularly in off-grid rural areas, Ridwan is helping to gradually transform the energy landscape in oil-rich Nigeria.” adding that “his designs are distinguished by their ingenuity and sensitivity to local conditions and resources.”
