Storiaverse mobile app brings a new comic and animation experience to mobile devices

Storiaverse is a new mobile entertainment platform that has just launched on iOS and Android. It brings together freelance writers and animators to create multimedia stories for adults to “read and watch” in a new patent-pending content format.

Storiaverse is working with book publisher HarperCollins Publishers to adapt excerpts from several titles into a read-and-watch format. The startup has also partnered with TikTok animation star King Science (13 million followers), who is writing and animating an exclusive Storiaverse story.

The Los Angeles-based startup was created by Agnes Kozera (Chief Content Officer) + David Kierzkowski (CEO), serial entrepreneurs with ten years of experience in motivating creators. The co-founders sold their 2 previous companies to Google (FameBit, 1st/largest YouTube creator platform) + Audacy (Podcorn podcast influencer marketing platform).

They raised $2.5 million in funding led by 500 Global, which was also an early investor in their previous companies. They have already received thousands of submissions from authors, and the Storiaverse network has over 100 creators and over 100 stories in development.

Todd Gallet, Head of Partnerships at Storiaverse, sat down with Comic Watch to talk about the platform:

Stories now available in the app include:

  • A Night at the Park – a suspenseful mystery about two fugitives who try to take refuge in the wrong house, written by John M. Floyd, award-winning author of over 1,000 short stories in publications such as Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine and The Best American Mystery Stories. Animated by Josh Ryba, a writer, director and animator who has worked on projects such as Ridley Scott’s Raised by Wolves series.

  • The End of the West – A thrilling Western that blurs the lines between predator and prey, written by Maxim Loskutoff, an award-winning novelist published by The New York Times. Animation by Shahab Serwaty, a fiction and 2D animation artist who has worked on television series, films, music videos, board games, and graphic novels.

  • Kelpie – An inspiring fantasy tale of courage, transformation, and the magic of a young witch, written by queer, working-class Scottish author Lindz McLeod and animated by Jonathan Fontaine, whose credits include Disney’s Descendants and Paramount’s Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank.

  • A Last Taste – A wild sci-fi tale of a cosmic life-invasion from novelist Lyndsay Ely, who contributed to the video game-inspired Overwatch books. Animated by Michael Winn, an animation instructor at The College for Creative Studies in Detroit who has worked on projects for Warner Brothers and Sony.
