Stock Market Sectors: Stock Market Update: FMCG stocks rise as market falls

NEW DELHI: FMCG stocks closed lower on Friday’s session.

The top gainers included Euro India Fresh Foods Ltd. (up 8.28%), Umang Dairies Ltd. (up 6.50%), Patanjali Foods Ltd. (up 5.09%), Jyothy Labs Ltd. (up 4.67%), Dodla Dairy Ltd. (up 2.83%), Hindustan Foods Ltd. (up 2.28%), Tasty Bite Eatables Ltd. (up 2.26%), Sheetal Cool Products Ltd. (up 1.85%), Bajaj Consumer Care Ltd. (up 1.48%) and Vadilal Industries Ltd. (up 1.22%).

Nakoda Group Of Industries Ltd. (down 2.62%), JHS Svendgaard Laboratories Ltd. (down 1.99%), Gillette India Ltd. (down 1.51%), ADF Foods Ltd. (down 1.35%), Procter & Gamble Hygiene & Healthcare Ltd. (down 1.22%), Honasa Consumer Ltd. (down 1.12%), Bikaji Foods International Ltd. (down 0.72%), Heritage Foods Ltd. (down 0.68%), Varun Beverages Ltd. (down 0.61%) and Prataap Snacks Ltd. (down 0.56%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended the day down 33.91 points at 24,010.6, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed 210.45 points lower at 79,032.73.

Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd. (up 2.67%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (up 2.51%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (up 2.28%), SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd. (up 1.95%), Tata Motors Ltd. (up 1.82%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (up 1.73%), Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. (up 1.64%), Coal India Ltd. (up 1.31%), Asian Paints Ltd. (up 1.26%) and Grasim Industries Ltd. (up 1.25%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack. IndusInd Bank Ltd. (down 2.55%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (down 2.16%), Axis Bank Ltd. (down 1.84%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (down 1.67%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (down 1.54%), Shriram Finance Ltd. (down 1.35%), JSW Steel Ltd. (down 1.24%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (down 1.19%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (down 0.94%) and Eicher Motors Ltd. (down 0.87%) closed in the red.
