YANGON, June 28 (Xinhua) — Myanmar kicked off an exhibition for agriculture and livestock, energy and machinery, food and beverages, and hotels, restaurants and catering in Yangon on Friday.

In a speech at the opening event at the Yangon Convention Center, Mya Han, president of the Burma Livestock Federation, said Burma is a country dependent on agriculture and livestock, adding that if the technologies for these sectors are well developed, production and quality will be comparable to other countries.

Such exhibitions will help the country gain technologies and markets for the agriculture and livestock sectors, he said, adding that farmers will benefit if Myanmar’s products gain strong market access.

The event showcases fertilizers, medicines, planters, animal feed, mills, spare parts, animal feed machinery, solar panels, generators, as well as locally produced food and beverages.

Ko Zarni, the organizer of the event, said the aim of the fair is to present new products to farmers and livestock breeders and to help companies strengthen their presence in the market by showcasing their products at the fair.

Over 90 organizations took part in the fair, including over 60 companies and associations and over 30 small and medium-sized enterprises, which exhibited over 130 stands.

The fair will help strengthen logistics links between farmers, suppliers and other supply chain participants, he added. The three-day event will last until Sunday.
