Lyon College, Entegrity ‘switch on’ solar panels

Lyon College and Entegrity Energy Partners recently celebrated the activation of a 1.3 MW solar array, a significant achievement for their partnership.

This partnership includes a solar services agreement, enabling Lyon College to purchase renewable energy from Entegrity to meet approximately 30% of its electricity needs. Additionally, energy-saving LED lighting has been installed in several campus buildings.

“The College aims to reduce its carbon footprint and promote the use of renewable energy. By partnering with Entegrity, Lyon College is not only reducing costs, but also investing in the future of sustainable energy on campus. This is consistent with the college’s broader mission to be responsible stewards of environmental resources,” said Lyon College President Dr. Melissa Taverner.

Discussions about the project began nearly two years ago with the goal of promoting sustainability, lowering energy costs and promoting environmental stewardship. Now complete, the project is expected to save the college approximately $2.5 million in energy costs over the life of the contracts. By purchasing solar power at a discounted rate, Lyon College anticipates significant long-term savings and stabilized energy costs.

The university also plans to integrate educational initiatives to foster a culture of sustainability among students and staff, going beyond physical changes on campus.
