Ikwerre, river state – The newly appointed interim Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government (LGA) in Rivers State, Darlington Orji, has allegedly appointed 600 people to positions such as Special Assistants (SA), Senior Special Assistants (SSA) and Executive Assistants (EA).

Earlier, Governor Siminalayi Fubara swore in 23 new caretaker chairmen in the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State, one of whom was Orji.

“I arrived at Ikwerre Local Government Council and found it barricaded by security operatives, especially the police.

However, a circular circulating on social media shows that Orji has allegedly appointed 600 people as his Special Assistants (SAs), Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Executive Assistants (EAs).

Fubara swears in 23 new interim LGA chairmen

In a related development, Governor Fubara administered the oath of office to 23 new caretaker chairmen for the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State at the Council Chambers of the Government House, Port Harcourt on Wednesday, June 19.

Legit.ng recalls that the Governor of Rivers State has forwarded the names of 23 LGA candidates to the Victor Jumbo faction of the Rivers State House of Assembly. This development comes months after the Rivers Assembly passed the Local Government Amendment Bill.
