The Minister appoints the members of the South East Regional College’s governing body

Economy Minister Conor Murphy has appointed three new members to the governing body of South Eastern Regional College.

Appointed SERC board members

The nominees are Ms Pauline Leeson CBE, Ms Nuala Reid and Ms Nicola Wilson.

The three nominations come into force on June 26, 2024 and are valid for a period of four years.

1. Appointments are made in accordance with the Code of Practice issued by the Public Appointments Commissioner for Northern Ireland. Further information can be found at https://www.publicappointmentsni.org

2. South Eastern Regional College is one of six colleges in Northern Ireland sponsored by the Department for the Economy (DfE). Colleges are non-faculty public bodies of the DfE that were established under the Further Education (Northern Ireland) Order 1997. Each governing body (GB) is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective management of the college, providing appropriate further education for its students and setting the strategic direction of the college. In delivering the college’s services, GB takes into account the educational needs of the business sector and the local community.

3. The position of member of the Governing Body shall be paid at a salary of £250 per meeting of the Governing Body and £150 per committee meeting or event approved by the Chair, plus travel and subsistence allowances payable at Northern Ireland Civil Service rates for activities away from home in the performance of their duties.

4. All appointments are made on merit and political activity does not play a role in the selection process. However, the Public Appointments Commissioner for Northern Ireland requires that the political activity of appointees (if reported) is published. None of the three appointees have undertaken any political activity in the last five years.
