Context

In recent years, climate change-induced disasters such as heatwaves, droughts and floods have severely impacted Southeast Asia, accentuating and worsening regional inequalities. The COVID-19 pandemic has further emphasized the need for a sustainable development model. This has led to calls for a “green and fair recovery” policy agenda.

Requirements

Journalist profile: We prioritize hiring local journalists with proven experience in environmental journalism. However, we will consider contributions from journalists from the region who have good experience in these issues
Perspective: Stories should highlight the role of renewable energy in the region
Region: Focus on Southeast Asian countries – it could be one country or multiple countries
Format: In-depth articles, features, investigative reports or narratives.
Length: 1000-1200 words per article
Deadline for submission of offers: July 31st. Please note that we will be assigning/commissioning stories before this date; Early applications are strongly encouraged

Attention: We are looking for original story ideas and are unlikely to publish a story that has already been covered extensively elsewhere unless there is a distinct new thread/development to it.

Compensation

Prices are $400 per item
