Walmart Launches Its Own Prime Day Savings Event

The Walmart Deals promotion runs from July 8 to July 11, one week before the Prime Day sale begins.
Back-to-school products are among thousands of discounts available to customers.
Loyalty program members can take advantage of the offers up to five hours early on July 8 at 12:00 PM ET.

As part of the “biggest savings campaign in history,” Walmart may create competition for Amazon Prime.

Walmart’s summer savings offers are scheduled to begin on July 8 at 5 p.m. ET, which is about a week before Amazon’s annual Prime Day event on July 16-17. Like an e-commerce site, Walmart will host online sales of thousands of items through its app and on its website.

As part of the promotion, Walmart Deals will offer discounts on select back-to-school products such as backpacks and uniforms. Also included are products from tech, toys, outdoor, travel and more. Walmart+ members can take advantage of the offers five hours earlier than anyone else, starting July 8 at noon ET. The promotion will last until 23:59 ET on July 11. Customers have access to pickup and delivery options.

Several other companies have also offered discounts to cope with looming inflation, with some falling prices on groceries and used cars. Fast food companies have also followed suit. McDonald’s has a $5 meal deal for a limited time. Jack in the Box has a $4 menu as a response to rising inflationary prices.
