MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said on Saturday that the country’s progress can only be achieved when all sectors are united.

According to Marcos, this unity consisted in agreement on the country’s goals and how to achieve them.

“We need to come to an understanding now that we will achieve the transformation we dream of for the Philippines only if we are united, if we agree, if there is consensus among us on what needs to be done, how we will do it, and if we all work together,” Marcos said.

The chief executive made the statement in his speech marking the signing of the alliance between the Marcos-led Partido Federal ng Pilipinas and the National Unity Party Alliance.

Marcos Jr. added that the alliance was not a “marriage of convenience” but focused on public service.

“But we are organizing – this is not a marriage of convenience. It is an understanding that we have to come together if we are to transform our country into the modern, safe, sustainable and developing country that we dream of, that we have all dreamed of all our lives. Because at the heart of what we do is public service and that is what we want to provide,” he added.
