Power Outage: Power Outages in Noida and Ghaziabad Due to Transformer Breakdown and Rain Showers | Noida News

Noida/Ghaziabad: Friday morning’s showers led to 3 to 5-hour outages in Noida and Ghaziabad. While Sector 19 in Noida reeled in a 14-hour outage since Thursday due to a transformer breakdown, over two dozen sectors in Noida and several colonies in Ghaziabad reported power cuts since 5am on Friday. From cable and meter faults to voltage fluctuations and transformer breakdowns were the cause of outages. Water supply on Friday morning was also affected due to power shortage.Sectors 30, 51, 62, 63, and 122 reported outages lasting between 3 and 8 hours. Sector 122 faced repeated power cuts, causing severe inconvenience. The power supply was disrupted for seven hours due to a part of a tree breaking on power lines in Niti Khand.Many areas, including sectors 30, 51, and 122, reported no water due to the prolonged absence of electricity. The situation was exacerbated by high humidity.Sector 122 RWA president Umesh Sharma said, “The rain on Friday morning caused a collapse of the power system. Residents have faced significant issues due to lack of electricity and water. This situation is reminiscent of the power problems Noida experienced 25 years ago. Despite numerous complaints, there has been no response from the power department,” Sharma stated.In Ghaziabad, areas such as Defense Colony, Tulsi Niketan, Gangan Vihar, and Garima Garden suffered power cuts starting from as early as 5am on Friday, experiencing interruptions until 1pm. Residents in Rajendra Nagar, Mohan Nagar, Vasundhara, Vaishali, and along GT Road also reported outages due to local faults. In Niti Khand, a seven-hour outage occurred after a tree branch fell on power lines. Other areas which faced outages for the second day on Friday include Vijay Nagar, Raj Nagar Extension and more.
