Zenless Zone Zero, the upcoming ARPG from MiHoYo, has unveiled a brand new pre-release stream filled with highlights and teasers for the upcoming title. With the game’s July 4 release fast approaching, the version 1.0 livestream is likely our last chance to get a good look at the game before it hits the App Store and Google Play next month.

The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world destroyed by an event called Hollows. You will play as “Proxy” and discover New Eridu, the last bastion of human civilization. Zenless Zone Zero, which takes the action of MiHoYo’s typical RPG far beyond their science fiction and fantasy comfort zone, could prove to be the studio’s biggest hit.

High expectations?

When Zenless Zone Zero hits stores on July 4, it will join MiHoYo’s already huge lineup of games. Since its release and the subsequent explosion of popularity experienced by Genshin Impact, the studio has gone from strength to strength.

Zenless Zone Zero will be unique in terms of setting, ranging from the sci-fi and fantasy settings of the Honkai and Genshin Impact series respectively, and will instead focus on more urban fantasy. The focus on music is quite obvious from the livestream itself, with the performance showcasing gameplay and new areas.

Is MiHoYo on track to become the next Supercell with a string of hit games? Or could Zenless Zone Zero prove to be too much MiHoYo for everyone? We’ll have to wait and see.
