CM Eknath Shinde announces special pilgrimage program for senior citizens

Mumbai, June 29: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Saturday announced that the state government will soon launch a special pilgrimage program for senior citizens.

Announcing the same in the State Assembly, he said the government would bring in necessary rules and regulations to enable senior citizens to participate in pilgrimages. CM Shinde intervened during a discussion on a notice of motion moved by Shiv Sena legislator Pratap Sarnaik.

“Maharashtra is a land of saints. A large number of people visit pilgrimage centres every year. Prime Minister Tirtha Darshan Yojana will be launched to facilitate senior citizens to visit pilgrimage places. For this purpose, a comprehensive policy will be formulated and its modalities will be set. The programme will be implemented through rotational call for online applications,” the Prime Minister said.

CM Shinde said that the MahaYuti government belongs to the common people and various provisions have been made for farmers, laborers, laborers, women and youth in the supplementary budget presented on Friday.
