NFL Hit with Billions in Sunday Ticket Antitrust Verdict

The decision in the “NFL Sunday Ticket” antitrust case was released Thursday, and the league was dealt a blow. The group of “plaintiffs” who purchased the stake won a $4.7 billion verdict from a jury in Los Angeles, California, while the “bar owners” were awarded $96 million.

According to the Hollywood Reporter:

A Los Angeles jury on Thursday found in favor of fans who claimed they overpaid for NFL Sunday Ticket, according to the NFL. The decision, which came after less than a day of deliberations, could force the league to change the broadcast model that has made it the most popular sports league in the country.

The jury in the NFL Sunday Ticket antitrust trial ordered @NFL pay $96 million in compensation to the commercial class and $4 billion in compensation to the residential class.

NFL revenue last year was $19 billion.
