4 Ways to Fix iPhone Not Receiving Emails

Quick Tips
  • Open Settings and tap Mail > turn on the mobile data switch.
  • Go to your Mail app settings > Accounts > Get new data > turn on the toggle for Push.
  • Delete the corresponding email account. Add them again and wait for your account details to sync. Then check again.

Basic fixes:

  • Manually refresh your inbox: Open the Mail app on your iPhone and swipe down from the top to refresh your inbox. Then check to see if any recent emails are visible.
  • Check your spam/junk folder: If Mail accidentally marked the affected emails as spam, they won’t appear in your main inbox. So check your spam or junk folder for the affected emails.
  • Update the Mail app: The Mail app is part of the iOS software on iPhones. The company frequently releases new updates that add features and fix bugs such as iPhone not receiving emails. So check and install the latest software updates for your iPhone.
  • Reinstall the Mail app: Apple finally lets you remove default apps on your iPhone. So if you don’t see your emails, uninstall the Mail app from your iPhone. Then reinstall it from the App Store, log in again, and check if your emails are visible.

Fix 1: Enable mobile data access

If you deny mobile data access in the default Mail app, your iPhone won’t receive new emails. Necessary changes should be made in the Settings menu. Here’s how to enable this option on your iPhone.

Step 1: open Settings and touch Post. Turn on Mobile data switch.

Fix 2: Check your Inbox sync settings

You can choose Push to receive new emails, Fetch to refresh new emails at set intervals, or manually retrieve new emails. It’s best to choose Push. If it’s unavailable, use Fetch and set a short interval to receive new emails. Here’s how to make sure you have the right sync setting.

Step 1: open Settings and touch Post. Click Accounts.

Step 2: To choose Download new data and turn on the switch Press.

Select the same option for all your email accounts. If Push is not available from your email provider, select Fetch.

Solution 3: Delete the account and add it again

Have you changed your Gmail or Outlook password? To receive emails, you must re-authenticate your account with a new password. If that doesn’t help, delete the account and add it again. Here’s how to do it.

Step 1: open SettingsPostAccounts. Tap on appropriate account.

Step 2: To choose Delete account AND confirm Your decision.

Step 3: Then go back to the Accounts page and select add Account.

Please enter your correct login details and wait for your emails to sync. You can also check our guide if some emails have disappeared from the Mail app on your iPhone.

Fix 4: Check your email notification settings

You need to check the notification settings in the Mail app on your iPhone. If you deny permission, you will still receive new emails in the background, but you will not receive any notifications about them. Follow the steps below to enable and customize email notifications.

Step 1: open SettingsPost. To choose Notifications.

Step 2: Turn on Allow notifications switch.

Step 3: Tap on Customize notifications and set all accounts to Immediate delivery.

This will allow the Mail app to notify you immediately of new emails, so you’ll never miss an important message on your iPhone.
