Will Huawei Mate 40 Pro receive EMUI 14?

The popularity of Huawei Mate 40 Pro in the global market raises the question whether it will receive the EMUI 14 update or not. The right phone is one of the excellent devices of the company with several powerful features and functionalities of the technology package.

The Mate 40 Pro was launched out of the box with EMUI 11 based on Android 10 in October 2020. Over time, the company has upgraded the device to EMUI 12 with interactive features. For example, Multi-Device Task Viewer, Super Device, App Snippets, and more.

The old flagship currently runs on EMUI 13. In the meantime, the company is constantly improving it, adding new security patches, bug fixes, and useful improvements.

Even after four years, the device works effectively without causing many problems. Although several points have made Mate 40 Pro users concerned whether their lovely smartphone will receive the EMUI 14 major update in the future.

Starting with regular security updates, Huawei has removed the Mate 40 Pro from its monthly and quarterly update lists. This means that the phone has reached the “rollback” stage and may only see minor improvements in the coming time.

Another reason is that Huawei has still not offered the EMUI 13.1 update for Mate 40 Pro smartphones. Version 13.1 has more impressive additions than the 13th build. Features smoother animations, camera improvements and more changes.

Then the phone manufacturer did not list the device in the official models eligible for the EMUI 14 beta. Hence the dilemma whether Huawei Mate 40 Pro will receive EMUI 14.

Chances for EMUI 14:

Now let’s take a look at why the Mate 40 Pro still seems to qualify for EMUI 14. The device uses the Kirin 9000 5G chipset. It is still capable of performing multiple operations at once without experiencing any lag, buffering, or unnecessary freezes.

Huawei has only released two significant EMUI updates for Mate 40 Pro devices so far. This would allow the phone to launch at least one more major version, such as EMUI 14.

HarmonyOS 4.2 in China

The Chinese phone maker has already released HarmonyOS 4.2 for Mate 40 Pro users in its country. It now includes several new features such as false positive protection for malicious apps, WLAN switcher, better security improvements, and new themes.

The report also notes that Huawei is testing HarmonyOS NEXT-based apps on Mate 40 Pro devices. With the latest software releases in China, the company has shown that the device in question is still eligible for new updates.

The EMUI 14.2 update map only shows 13 devices for now. It includes only the best flagships alongside several Nova models. Therefore, we expect that the tech giant may expand this implementation to more devices in the coming weeks. However, it still depends on Huawei whether it will introduce EMUI 14 for this phone or not.

Regardless of your decision, we will keep you updated with the latest software developments on this topic. Stay tuned for more information.
