Srinagar- The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has taken a significant step towards improving urban development by formulating the Draft Jammu and Kashmir Subsidy and Utilization of Tradable Development Rights Policy 2024 and the Draft Jammu and Kashmir Land Pooling Policy 2024.

As part of its inclusive policy-making process, the Department of Housing and Urban Development invited the general public to submit concerns and suggestions.

In support of this initiative, Secretary Commissioner, Department of Housing and Urban Development has convened meetings with stakeholders from the real estate industry of Kashmir and Jammu on 26th and 29th June, 2024 at the Civil Secretariat, Srinagar and Jammu respectively.

These meetings were aimed at gathering valuable insights and opinions from realtors in Jammu and Kashmir on the proposed policies.

A comprehensive presentation of the draft Policy on the Allocation and Use of Transferable Development Rights and the draft Land Pooling Policy was provided, detailing the key features and benefits of these policies.

The presentation emphasized the government’s commitment to creating a sustainable development framework that takes into account the needs of all stakeholders.

After the presentation, real estate agents were asked to submit comments and suggestions.

Participants actively shared their perspectives, providing constructive feedback and proposing amendments to make policies more effective. A spirit of cooperation prevailed in the discussions, and real estate agents expressed their appreciation for the government’s inclusive approach.

Both the meetings were concluded positively and the Secretary Commissioner thanked the realtors for their participation and valuable inputs. The feedback gathered during these sessions will be scrutinized and taken into consideration while finalizing the policies.

The Government of Jammu and Kashmir remains committed to promoting a transparent and participatory policy-making process, ensuring that the voices of all stakeholders are heard and taken into account.

The final version of the policy is expected to pave the way for more organized and sustainable urban development in the region.
