Bathinda will soon get three solar power plants

• CR projects worth Rs 50 crore to be commissioned by June 2025, says Aman Arora
CHANDIGARH: Taking another step towards decarbonising the agricultural sector by adopting solar energy, the Punjab government led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann is all set to build three more 12 MW solar power plants (4 MW each) in Bathinda district, revealed Mr. Aman Arora , Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Punjab.

He said that the Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) had recently commissioned a 4 MW solar power plant at Tarkhanawala village in Bathinda to meet the energy demand of agriculture. The three upcoming 12 MW solar power projects worth Rs 50 crores are expected to be commissioned by June 2025, Mr. Aman Arora said, adding that Panchayat land has been leased near 66 kV PSPCL substation in Bhagi Vandar, Shergarh villages and Kothe Malluana in Bathinda District to set up these projects.

The Minister of New and Renewable Energy Sources said that these projects will introduce the concept of solarization of agricultural energy and will provide many benefits to the citizens of the state, apart from supporting PSPCL in meeting their energy demand at a very low cost. Solar power supplied to PSPCL under these projects under long-term PPA is at a rate of Rs 2,748 per kWh, he added.
