Christopher Mathis – WAKA 8

Weather Authority Meteorologist Christopher Mathis presents the weather forecast on Action 8 News Rising from 4:30 to 7 a.m. weekdays. He joined WAKA in May 2024.

Chris returns to his home state of Alabama after spending more than two decades forecasting weather in Mississippi. Born in Jackson County in northeastern Alabama, Chris developed a strong interest in weather and a love of television at an early age.

Chris is a proud graduate of the University of Alabama and puts the Crimson Tide first in the football and basketball seasons. He also enjoys traveling to scenic locations throughout America when he is not working.

Chris holds the National Weather Association Seal of Approval and is recognized as a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist by the American Meteorological Society.
