Samsung Galaxy S24 exclusive offer will reach 200 million Google users in 2024: Here’s how

Google’s powerful ‘Circle to Search’ feature may soon become available to millions more devices. The AI-powered visual search feature, currently only available on the latest Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel smartphones, may soon be integrated with the widely supported Google Lens app, making it compatible with a much wider range of devices.

What can you look for in Google Circle?

Circle to Search allows users to search for information about anything displayed on their smartphone screen by selecting it with a circle or swirl gesture. Since it is integrated with Android, supported devices can access the features in any app. However, most smartphones currently do not support it.

Now, according to the report Android PowerSerial software spelunker Assemble Debug has discovered plans to integrate Circle to Search with the popular Google Lens app. This will allow older devices to access the feature through the Google Lens app without requiring a major system update, potentially making Circle to Search readily available to any device that supports Google Lens. It also opens the door to future iOS compatibility, though iPhone users will need to access Google Lens through a separate app, such as the Google app, Google Chrome, or Google Photos.

As is always the case with unreleased features such as this, there is no guarantee that this functionality will be implemented in its current form. Additionally, Assemble Debug notes that the Circle to Search feature in Google Lens is called “lensient”, while the original Circle to Search feature is known internally as “Omient”. Maintaining these two separate codenames suggests that significant differences between the two versions may remain.

However, Google has announced plans to make Circle To Search available on 200 million devices by the end of 2024, and it’s likely that integration with Google Lens will help the company achieve this.
